Meet one of the candidates for the May 26th Election.
Silvana Buxton has arranged a meeting at the Camposol Golf Clubhouse for Wednesday 24th April at 4pm to afford all D Sector residents an opportunity to meet and question, a prospective candidate as councillor for foreigners. The following message was emailed to all of the Camposol Gardening & Community Groups and we, the committee for D Group, feel that it offers an ideal opportunity to our members and residents to have some or all of their questions answered and enable them to make an informed voting decision. I hope as many of you as possible will attend.
I am Silvana Buxton, acting chair of CRA, and Candidate for PSOE as Councillor for Foreigners.
With the backing of the CRA I have been fighting for the rights of the residents of Camposol since 2014, for improving the living conditions for all who live in our urbanization, and for obtaining the legal documents in relation to our properties, which the vast majority of us do not possess.
I would like the opportunity to give you, your committee, and possibly your members, a brief presentation of the true situation of Camposol at present, in order to rectify any rumours or incorrect statements.
I am proud to say that great steps forward have been made in the last 4 years – more has been achieved than at any time before, especially with regards to:
– the infrastructure of Camposol
– the re-direction of the rambla
– sewage system throughout Camposol
– medical centre in sector A
– applications for subsidies
– situation on abandoned properties
We have a long way to go yet, and a successful completion of all the above, and more, is going to be my aim and objective. .
Hoping in the opportunity to meet you, I look forward to hearing from you in order to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time and place.
Upcoming events for 2018
The first two events for 2018 are;
The Annual Hog Roast on Sunday 6th May in Calle Salvias – cost will be 13 euros each – bring your own table & chairs.
Then we will be having The Wedding Celebration ( for Prince Harry & Meghan) Saturday 19th May at the Club House – cost will be 8.5 euros each.
Laurie will be at the Club House, selling tickets to both events, every Thursday from 1st March between 2.30 and 4.00 pm.
Further info will be available on the notice board later this week – if you require further info you can contact Laurie via email at email@example.com or via phone at 605184170.
The group are continually searching for more volunteers, it is not always manual labour such as gardening or road repairing, you can become a ‘bucketeer’ and assist in our Friday collection of funds, you would only need to commit to 2.5 hours every two or three months. You could also volunteer to assist our social secretary/events organiser Laurie by helping to set up the venues for our events, a couple of hours three or four times a year.
We also need volunteers for;
- Gardening team – 2/3 hours every Wednesday
- Road team – 2/3 hours every Thursday
- Watering team 2/3 hours once every week
- Weed killing team 2/3 hours a week
If none of the above appeals to you, how about joining the committee, we are currently looking for a Vice President.
No previous experience is required for any of these positions you can learn on the job, age is no barrier, we are 99.99% pensionistas and hardly as fit as the proverbial ‘butchers dog’ we just want to do our little bit for our community, so come on, join the team and do your little bit.
